§ 19-100. Definitions.

  • For the purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings set out below:

    Charitable: Patriotic, philanthropic, social service, welfare, benevolent, educational, civic or fraternal.

    Charitable organization: Any person who is or holds himself out to be organized or operated for any charitable purpose, or any person who solicits or obtains contributions from the public.

    Solicitor: A person traveling from door to door, taking or attempting to take orders for goods, wares, merchandise, or personal property of any nature for future delivery or for services to be furnished in the future, whether or not such person utilizes samples and whether or not such person is collecting advance payment for such sales. The term "solicitor" shall not include "direct sellers," "itinerant merchants," and "peddlers" as defined in Chapter 11, Town Code.
